UNKNOWN I am making complaint of the 3rd row airbags not passing federal inspection. I have not been in accident, but at this point I am very scared to drive my vehicle. I told the dealership that there were recalls on my car, but because they can’t find it in the system they’re saying that there are no recalls. I was merging onto I-85 with my sister was in the front passenger seat, and my son was behind me on the driver's side. I did not feel anything to indicate I hit something, no noise, no beeping from my vehicle safety features, no shake of the steering wheel to indicate I veere
... d off the road. Nothing of that nature. I was able to get to the shoulder of the highway safely, despite not being able to see out of the passenger side of the vehicle due to the deployed airbags. It was confusing and disorienting because I knew we were not involved in a crash, but the airbags still deployed. I called 911 and started assessing any injuries for my son or my sister. The police arrived a short time later and opened the front passenger door and immediately cut the airbag to assess the situation. The police officer said there was no visible damage to the van and no other vehicle nearby to indicate a collision. I asked if the tire blew and he said no, he couldn't see any damage. This was an incredibly dangerous situation that could have ended with serious injury or worse. We were traveling on an interstate and the airbag deployment could have injured me and prevented me from getting off the road. In addition, the airbag deployed right where my younger son's car seat is. He would have suffered serious injury had he been in the vehicle when this happened. The shop doing the repair ran computer diagnostic testing and I instructed them to keep all parts that are being replaced. The van has been inspected by a Honda body shop manager as well as an American Honda technician. There were no warning lights or indications before the airbag deployment.Read more

On March 2, 2026, the airbag warning light and seat belt warning light suddenly illuminated on my vehicle’s dashboard. This issue is extremely concerning, as it directly affects critical safety systems designed to protect occupants in the event of a crash. I immediately took the vehicle to an authorized Toyota dealership for inspection. However, the dealership refused to repair the issue under
... the manufacturer’s warranty, claiming that the problem was caused by “physical damage.” I strongly dispute this claim, as no accident, impact, or misuse occurred that could justify such damage. As a result, I was pressured into paying for the repair out of pocket, despite this being a brand-new vehicle and a clear safety-related malfunction. I also contacted Toyota Motor North America to escalate the issue. Unfortunately, they declined to provide assistance or override the dealership’s decision, leaving me without proper support. I believe this situation raises serious safety concerns that may affect not only my vehicle but potentially other vehicles of the same model. A malfunction involving the airbag and seat belt systems could significantly increase the risk of injury or death in the event of an accident. For this reason, I respectfully request that the NHTSA: •Investigate this issue for potential defects in the 2025 Toyota Camry •Determine whether a recall or further safety action is necessary •Review the manufacturer’s and dealership’s handling of this safety concern That dealership was Hudson Toyota service centre which is located in jersey city New Jersey ,07305. The vehicle displayed a “Passenger Restraint System Malfunction” warning. Upon diagnosis by an authorized BMW dealership (Fields BMW, [XXX] ), the issue was identified as a faulty passenger knee airbag wiring harness (short to ground). The dealer confirmed that this condition is documented in a BMW Technical Service Bulletin [XXX] ), indicating that BMW is aware of a recurring defect involvi
... ng this component. This failure directly affects the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which is a critical safety system designed to protect occupants in the event of a crash. A malfunction in this system raises serious concerns about whether the airbag will deploy properly. Despite this being a known issue, BMW has not issued a recall and is requiring customers to pay for repairs once the vehicle is outside the warranty period. I was offered only partial “goodwill” assistance (20%), leaving me responsible for the majority of the repair cost. This appears to be a systemic defect in a federally regulated safety system, not normal wear and tear. I am writing to file a complaint regarding four recalls on my 2023 Hyundai Palisade in the past year, two of which remain unresolved due to lack of parts or remedy. We received notification of the seatbelt recall in October and scheduled with our local Hyundai dealership. Upon arriving at our appointment, we were told there were no parts to complete the repair and that there was a months long wa
... itlist because Hyundai corporate was only sending out a limited number per dealership. Those parts had to be installed before each dealership could order more resulting in a huge back order. I called two other dealerships in our area and all had the same story. It has now been nearly 6 months and I called again to be informed there was another recall on this recall and they have stopped fixing it altogether with no ETA on resolution. In addition, while waiting for the seatbelt recall remedy, we were notified of the third row airbags being defective and there is currently not even a waitlist, remedy, or ETA for resolution for this one either. With the seatbelts unsafe on the first two rows and the airbags unsafe in the third row our entire car doesn’t have a single safe seat for our family, including two children under the age of [XXX] , to sit. This is totally irresponsible on Hyundai’s part and I think they need to be held responsible for all of these mismanaged recalls. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Hyundai’s handling of these recalls and consider requiring interim accommodations for affected owners, such as loaner vehicles or vehicle buyback. Hyundai has opened an internal case, number 42429100 Their only resolution is to leave the vehicle at a dealership and rent a car at my own expense. They have offered to give me a slight discount on a trade, but all comparable vehicles are under safety recalls as well. They have offered no effective solution and I have no manner to safely transport my family. The vehicle is subject to an activ
... e safety recall (NHTSA Recall 26V034) for failure to meet federal ejection mitigation standards (FMVSS 226) due to curtain airbag performance in the third row. According to the manufacturer, there is currently no available remedy for this condition. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealership, which confirmed that the recall is active and that no repair can be performed at this time. A separate seatbelt-related recall was completed during the inspection. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the recall notices. Because there is no available remedy and no timeline for repair, the vehicle cannot be restored to a condition that meets federal safety standards within a reasonable timeframe. This impacts the ability to safely transport occupants, particularly in scenarios involving side impact or rollover crashes where ejection mitigation is required. The manufacturer has not provided a functional resolution, such as a loaner vehicle or alternative transportation, and advised leaving the vehicle at the dealership without support. This leaves the owner without a safe and usable vehicle for normal family transportation.Read more

The contact stated that while driving past a driveway, the Lane Assist determined there was a curb near the vehicle, aggressively turning the vehicle towards the curb, causing the vehicle to crash into the mailbox near the driveway. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed and totaled. The mailbox was damaged. The contact stated that they received bruises to their hands from attempting to correct the direction of the vehicle, and no medical attention was needed. The police were contacted, and a police report was made; however, the contact was waiting for the police report identification number. I am reporting a safety concern involving a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle was previously involved in accidents prior to my purchase and had known mechanical issues, including a gear shifting problem that was not properly repaired. In February 2024, while the vehicle was insured under Ocean Harbor Casualty Insurance Company, it sustained a significant front-end collision impacting the driver
... side. The impact was severe enough to cause structural damage, including a dent to the vehicle frame. Despite the severity of the collision, the airbags did not deploy at all. Based on the extent of the damage, airbag deployment would reasonably be expected. Prior to this incident, the vehicle had ongoing issues following repairs, including system errors and concerns that repairs may not have been properly completed by a certified facility. This raises concern that the airbag system may have been defective, improperly repaired, or compromised prior to the accident. I was not informed of any airbag or safety-related defects at the time of purchase from HGreg. I am submitting this complaint due to concerns of a potential safety defect involving failure of the airbag system during a serious collision.Read more
