This was such a strange occurance. After pulling off from a stop sign attempting a right turn, my vehicle stalled, readjusted, then stalled again. I was driving on a cobblestone road while it was raining, but did not find any issues with vision or traction. However, during this process, my passenger airbag deployed out of nowhere causing me to immediately stop the car to see if I had hit something
... . There was nothing under or beside my car indicating any significant impact that would have caused this to happen. There were no other cars, or any pedestrians involved, nor any debris or blockade in the road so I did not file a police report or contact my insurace. My sister was in the passenger seat, and my 3 children in the back. No one sustained any injuries, but the entire incident was extremely startling, shocking, and confusing. There is no damage on my car that suggests I hit something, but I have no idea what could have caused an airbag to deploy, and why only that one? Being that I was pulling off on a turn, I was not going fast enough for me to think that the cobblestone could have set off a "pothole like" effect to the sensors. After research revealed there have been recalls on previous models concerning the Takata airbags, I reached out to a local Honda dealer for help. The associate immediately disregarded my account of the incident stating that "there hasn't been any recalls on the 2018 Honda Civic" and that I should "take it to a body shop and see if the insurance will take care of it". I assumed he had no intention of helping me AT ALL because I had reached the service department with a Honda service issue, so why would he not at least offer to have me bring it in to be fix there, even if I had to pay out of pocket? This lead me to do further research in which I found that there is in fact a current recall on the fuel pump, which is known to cause issues with stalling. I feel misled by Honda, and would like an explanation, as well as accountability.Read more

I was in an accident on 7/25/2024, my vehicle was completely stopped and pulled over. The impact occurred when another vehicle, traveling at around 35 mph or less (the posted speed limit), struck my vehicle with significant force, the rear suspension of my structural frame of my vehicle was severely damaged. Given the intensity of the collision and the resulting damage, I’m concerned that none o
... f my airbags did not deploy, despite the damage being substantial. In light of this information and my vehicle being totaled loss, I have a few additional follow-up questions: 1. Since my vehicle was stationary at the time of impact and the other vehicle was moving at a considerable speed, could the lack of deceleration on my part have influenced the airbag system’s response? How does the system account for impacts where the struck vehicle is at a complete stop? 2. You mentioned that neither the engine compartment nor the structural frame rails were compromised, yet the repair estimate indicates severe damage to the frame. Could there be a discrepancy between the vehicle photos and the actual damage assessed later? 3. Given the nature of the impact and the resulting damage, is it possible that certain sensors related to airbag deployment could have malfunctioned or were unable to accurately measure the severity of the crash? 4. The airbags are designed to deploy based on the severity of a frontal crash and longitudinal deceleration. Can clarification be provided on how side or angular impacts are accounted for in the vehicle’s safety system? Is there any supplemental protection, such as side airbags, that would activate in those types of collisions? 5. Given that the accident involved a side impact, could there be factors related to side-impact protection that should have activated other safety features? 6. Are there additional sensors or mechanisms that monitor the severity of non-frontal impacts?Read more

Problem 1. Service airbag light. We bought our brand new 2017 Pacifica the summer of 2017. Within a month, we took the van in to the dealership due to the service airbag light. The van has been having the same issue for the past 7 years, the service airbag light randomly popped on especially in the summer/winter whe
... n hitting a bumper or making a sharp turn. We took the van in numerous times but they couldn’t detect any issue or read any code due to it. Recently months, it has happened a lot more often, finally we are notified the issue was due to the faulty occupant restrain module which could cause the airbag not to deployed during an accident or to deploy during a normal driving. Problem 2. U0001 Can bus issue. The check engine light would randomly be on and gives a U0001 code. Sometimes it would affect the drivability of the car. The car stalled on us at a red light. The car couldn’t accelerate after pressing the brake and made loud noise when press the gas at a very busy traffic situation. The car’s rpm got stuck when driving. The mentioned above randomly happened numerous times in the past but more often during recently years. If you research on the website called Pacifica forum, you will see a lot of canbus issues with the 2017 Pacifica making this family van a hazard or death trap. I was sold a vehicle from a dealership in Green Bay Wisconsin under the impression all safety regulations were met. The day I drove it off the lot, I had issues with the back drivers' door, making wind noise. I had messaged the salesman, he stated it may have been the door seal. Days went by, it wasn't sitting well with me, I made an appointment with a local body shop in. regard's to the door and

I brought it to the body shop, they informed me, that the back air bags were deployed and stuffed back into the roof, body work on the left side was done incorrectly and is very unsafe to drive, seat belts where my children sit were finger tightened, frame is held on by a bolt etc. The body shop states that if this vehicle were to be in an accident, it would not sustain impact the way vehicles are designed to do so. The owner of the dealership I had bought from refuses to come to an agreement about this situation. I have all the paperwork and documents from the body shop along with another local dealership near me who I also brought it to look it over as well so the owner could understand that this vehicle should have never been able to be sold on his lot. They also agree that this is super unsafe and should not be driven until it is fixed properly and all safety standards should be met. They believe that it should have been totaled out, it is very obvious that the left side was hit and smashed in. I also asked the owner if he would feel safe for his children to drive in this vehicle and he said, “no” I have many documents/pictures/reports to share once needed.Read more

As I have owned several GMC Yukons in the past, I was familiar with their dashboards cracking even when still under warranty. Thus, the replacement dashboard and labor charge to install it was simply unfeasable. As the dashboard continued to crack during the sum
... mer, an alternative mentioned to me by a mechanic at the GMC dealership was a "glued on cover called a dashskin." I purchased a Dashskin for about $125 and, following the instructions, glued the Dashskin over my existing dashboard. The Dashskin had an opening for the airbag and did not appear to impede the execution of the airbag should it be initiated. I've made two attempts to have the attached recall on the airbag satisfied but, on both occasions, GMC informed me that the dashboard would require removal. In my case, the dashboard and Dashskin would be unusable and I would be back to purchasing a very expensive dashboard. I know that there has been a longterm, ongoing lawsuit against GMC regarding their cracking dashboards, but have no idea of the results.
