I received notification that my vehicle had a recall for related to emissions. At the dealership for repair, I was also informed of a second recall concerning airbags and they may no deploy if needed. The emissions recall was completed however the airbag recall procedure could not be performed due to what the technician described as a "weak" battery in my vehicle. If my vehicle’s battery was in
... sufficient for completing the recall, I believe it is the dealership's responsibility to have the necessary tools, such as a service battery, to perform recall-related repairs. My understanding is that all recall procedures are to be carried out at no cost to the consumer, yet Bill Knight Ford is asking me to pay up wards of $200 to address the battery issue before the recall can be completed. Additionally, after checking the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website with my VIN, I did not find any other recalls listed. With this in mind, I have a few questions: Could you confirm whether there are any open recalls for my vehicle, particularly regarding the airbags? Am I correct in assuming that I am not responsible for ensuring my car is "ready" for recall procedures, such as replacing the battery? If there is an open airbag recall, how can I ensure the dealership completes the necessary repairs at no cost to me? I appreciate your time and assistance in this matter and look forward to your response. Below, I have included my vehicle and dealership information for your reference. HONDA CR-V 2000 - I repeatedly contacted dealer in 2020 to get airbag replaced due to recall, but they said they didn't have replacement parts. 11/1/24 I brought car to Honda El Cerrito for airbag replacement due to recall. SRS light was on after their repair, but I didn't know that was a problem. I brought the car to another mechanic a couple weeks later for visual inspection prior to sale, and h
... e said SRS light shouldn't be on & go back to dealer. It took awhile to get another appointment due to holidays. About 1/3/25, dealer looked at car again and said it had a faulty airbag inflator (in the airbag they replaced). It took 8 days for them to approve replacing their own faulty inflator. Meanwhile I couldn't drive it. They replaced the airbag, but then informed me the cable reel was broken and not covered under recall warranty. However, nothing was wrong with car prior to bringing it to El Cerrito Honda, other than needing a replacement airbag due to recall. I'm not aware of SRS light being on prior to visiting EC Honda / airbag replacement the first time. Honda El Cerrito is requiring me to pay $650 out of pocket to complete repairs, since cable reel is not covered. However, my understanding now is that it is common practice to replace the cable reel along with airbag, due to the fact cable reel sometimes breaks during replacing airbag, and it is a sensitive necessary part for SRS function. Honda Corporation says cable reel is not included in the recall / warranty, so this is an out-of-pocket expense to me / consumers. I believe Honda El Cerrito either damaged the cable reel or is requiring me to replace it bc it's common practice with airbag replacement. However they are simply putting the cost & responsibility on me due to age & miles of car. I believe this part (cable reel) should be included in Honda's warranty if it is common practice to replace it along with airbags, since their airbags are on recall. Consumer should not have extra cost due to recall.Read more

Dear NHTSA Representative, I am writing to formally express my concern regarding the failure of Honda to notify me of a safety recall related to my vehicle, as required by 49 U.S.C. § 30119. As a current owner of the vehicle in question, I was never informed of the recall despite actively driving the car with my children, unknowingly putting our safety at risk. According to the law, manufacture
... rs are obligated to obtain up-to-date owner information from state DMVs and notify all registered owners of safety defects or noncompliance issues. This lack of notification not only violates the legal requirements but also leaves me deeply concerned about how such an oversight occurred. As a consumer, I expect manufacturers to prioritize safety and follow mandated processes to ensure proper communication. I kindly request that you: Investigate why I was not notified of the recall in accordance with federal law. Take appropriate action to ensure no other current owners face similar risks. Provide a formal response outlining the steps being taken to resolve this issue. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that you will treat this situation with the seriousness it warrants and look forward to hearing back from you promptly. 2012 Infiniti G25x: Occupancy sensor failed (diagnostic code B1018) around 132,000 miles. This is a common problem with Infiniti cars. Apparently for 2007 and 2008, there were recalls, but this problem continued into later years with no recall. The cost I was quoted to repair this (replacing the entire passenger seat) was $5,000, which is not practical for a 12 year old car. Although I haven'
... t been able to get an exact answer, it seems that this failure not only shuts off the front passenger airbag, but the entire SRS system (all airbags and all pretensioners) - I haven't been able to get a definite answer from multiple dealers that I contacted or from the Infiniti national customer service. Otherwise, the car has been the most reliable car I ever owned, but there should be at least some compensation for this problem which has existed for a number of years.Read more

I did not have an incident(accident), I noticed issues with my car, that seem to be prevalent with other Nissan Vehicles. This report is mostly proactive. I took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection and repair however was unable to come to a conclusion due to multiple inspection charges done by dealer but no fixes. Issue 1. Airbag Fault Warning Light on the dash. Turns on when I start the car
... , and stays. I took car to dealer and they have done a computer reset to reset the light (based on an internal Nissan bulletin on how to repair that issue, with mention in the repair notes that a lot of vehicles have that issue.) The reset didnt work and the light is back, now the dealer is saying that a whole sensor needs replacing as its prone to failure. Initial repair mentioned "code B00A0 stored for occupant detection system, but will not relearn." Zero Point Relearn will not complete. Referred to NTB19-071D... Ran the 75H Reset, code clears." Secondary repair: 'B00A0 Returned. Performed database search and found similar cases. Nissan recommends OSC and sensor replacement. Performed Bulletin again and error code is now 24H, not 75H. Zero point will not relearn. Started a case with Nissan and was advised to replace ...[OCS]... and strain sensors..." Issue 2: Loud clanking or grinding noise when turning vehicle left or right until wheel stops. Went to get this repaired and was told that dealer found bulletin 12-055J and will "need to replace axle nuts and apply Molykote." Paid for repair, and after picking up the car the sound is even worse, and upon bringing it back the dealer is saying that the noise is not due to past repair but vehicle will now need "Both front Strut mounts and bearings replaced." The sound is the same, and a cursory online search shows that this issue is prevalent across multiple vehicles.
