THE SPEEDOMETER WAS REPLACED UNDER MERCURY'S WARRANTY AT 30,000. THE NEW SPEEDOMETER FAILED 30,000 MILES LATER. WE PAID 400.00 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED SO WE CAN USE THE CAR BUT FEEL SOMETHING IS WRONG IF IT WILL ONLY LAST 30,000 MILES. WE HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT FORD BUT HAVE BEEN REFERRED TO THE DEALER WHO OF COURSE REFERRED US BACK TO FORD.
THE LENS OVER THE SPEEDOMETER CATCHES REFLECTS TOO MUCH OF THE REAR SURFACE OF THE STEERING WHEEL, BLOCKING VIEW AND MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO READ SPEEDOMETER, AND OTHER INSTRUMENTS.

WHEN BRAKE ARE APPLIED, THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON. IT TOOK SIX TRIES FOR THE DEALER TO LOCATE AND CORRECT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE ABS. ALSO, EXPERIENCE TWO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHERE THE VEHICLE GETS STUCK IN LOW GEAR AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATS.

MOTOR STAHLED AT BOTTOM OF HILL WHEN MANUALLY GOING FROM SECOND TO DRIVE, COULD HAVE CAUSED BAD ACCIDENT IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS PULLING HARD TO THE LEFT TO KEEP THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, WHILE PUTTING SELECTOR LEVER IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTING MOTOR. WHEN MOTOR STARTED, IT THREW ME ACROSS THE HIGHWAY INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE OF TRAFFIC.
